According to the Metropolitan Police Department, there are some illegal DVD stores and the sex industries in Akihabara. Those stores may be a source of money of gangs and/or foreign gangsters. Therefore, by increasing the number of police officers, Police Department tries strengthening patrols as well as exposing illegal sex industry.

In Akihabara (Sotokanda, Chiyoda-ku), owners of buildings have a duty to stop opening illegal sex industry businesses (a store that sells obscene videos, provides a room to get "massage," etc). In Akihabara, there are some stores real ladies are working at, but according to Akihabara Map (Ura), "there should be only about two stores that are considered as sex industry in Akihabara!?"
