WeeklyAkibaWords: Boys Love
Boys Love: love between boys, and Fujoshi (female fans of manga and novels that feature romantic relationships between men) are crazy about. But it's not love between gay people- little bit different.
Then what is the difference? Gay is love or having a sexual relationship between men from a men's point of view. Boys Love is love between men from a Fujoshi's point of view. For Boys Love, it's not necessary to have a physical relationship.
It maybe difficult for you to understand… but the key point for Boys Love is a delusion of love between boys watched by Fujoshi. Gay people love each other regardless of Fujoshi (or anybody else) looking at them or not. To be called as Boys Love, it is a must to have "Moe" contents of Fujoshi.
Fujoshi let their loved characters to love each other in their delusion. Love between "Moe" characters- that is "Boys Love."
Getting entangled of characters in Boys Love is called "Coupling." Deciding about who is S (plays man's role) and who is M (plays woman's role), Fujoshi imagine how their "Moe" characters get entangled.

There are some rules for Coupling. One of them is the order to write characters' names- should be "S x M." For example, if we write Goku x Vegeta, Goku becomes "S" (plays an active role) and Vegeta becomes "M" (plays a passive role). And when we read, we take the first words of their names- for this situation, we call "GokuVege." Another rule is if a couple doesn't have S or M, (have the same power), we use "+": e.g. "Goku+Vege."
Last but not the least, I'm gonna introduce Boys Love comics!
