After experienced as an editor of a magazine, he became a scriptwriter of manga. He once announced that he would not do any job related to anime, but TV version of R.O.D. brought him back to the anime world. In the main work of Mr. Kurata, R.O.D., Yomiko (a read man) was written; he himself also loves reading. He even watches a few dozens of movies or anime in a month. He has a deep knowledge of so many works (both foreign and Japanese).
