Rin Okamoto's Cherished Collection of Short Stories "Flip Flap" on Sale
Inlcudes Debut and Unpublished Stories
Rin Okamoto, who is known as Elfen Lied (whose cover is Moe bishojo but its stories are bloody), has released his cherished collection of short stories, "Flip Flap" on the 18th. It's a set of 2 books, and they include manga that Rin Okamoto wrote for the first time, unpublished stories, etc. The catchphrase of the band of paper carrying a blurb placed over the dust cover says "sometimes, it's comical, sometimes, it's grotesque: always sad but somehow it's warm."

Rin Okamoto, who is known as Elfen Lied (whose cover is Moe bishojo but its stories are bloody), has released his cherished collection of short stories, "Flip Flap" on the 18th.
Its comic's information says "it's a set of 2 books, and they include manga that Rin Okamoto wrote for the first time, unpublished stories, etc. Stories by Rin Okamoto, who has an unusual ability, are finally here! An old man who can change the memories of people, a genius pianist who gets a handicap on hands, a girl who has only few days to live, etc, many kinds of characters are caught up in a tragedy and a comedy! It's the first collection of short stories by an unusual writer. A comment by Yoshihiro Togashi, who is a fan of Rin Okamoto and also is a cartoonist himself, says "it's for you who want to read a warm story. It's also for you who want to read a story that is not only warm. I recommend it." The catchphrase of the band of paper carrying a blurb placed over the dust cover says "sometimes, it's comical, sometimes, it's grotesque: always sad but somehow it's warm," & "there are 9 unheard-of stories including 2 completely unpublished stories."
Whenby2006-say says "scenes of cutting a neck, dumping brain, disappearance of upper body, etc vivid recollections of Okamoto we've seen in Elfen Lied are all over the book. Some scenes are too groce that it was little hard for me to face up; however, the stories are also warm and kind. So, I was actually moved.
On Diary in For-next-Okamoto-Rin Homepage (3/19/2008), Rin Okamoto wrote: "the collection of short stories are really limited (one of the reasons is that it's really expensive). How many… Elfen Lied vol.1, as some of you know, was published with strict limitation, but this time will be half of it." & "You can't open the one whose color is blue."
I myself can't even look the 2 stories that are unpublished. I saw those stories after 7-8 years, and I was like "oh nooooooooo!!" after just looking at first few pages. So I couldn't check anymore. But I knew I had to check them, so I tried. Then soon, I became "oh nooooooooo!!" again. I asked the person in charge not to include those 2 stories, but it didn't work. Now, those are in the book, but I still can not open the one whose color is blue. When I riffle through the pages, I again become "oh nooooooooo!!"Rin Okamoto (3/19/2008)
